What a Wedding!
Bridal prep for Ellen and her ladies was really chilled out. Beauty By Calandra providing the makeup and the ladies from The Hair Shop sorting the hair to make a lovely set of ladies look even more awesome. Covering the prep is a part of the Wedding day I like photographing. It’s a good opportunity to get to know the bridesmaids, ladies of the family and you capture some really nice moments from a time of the day that often passes quite quickly and with some nerves. Another local business, Studley Florist arrived with some stunning buttonholes, bouquets and floral arrangements to add the finishing touches. Entertainment for the Wedding day was provided by the awesome Dan Greenaway during the ceremony and throughout the evening. Dan is a legend in the industry and a general all round nice guy. Adding his personal touch to the day puts a unique spin on something usually provided by a DJ. If you’re looking for some quality live music check him out. An absolute smasher of a Wedding cake was lovingly made for Ellen and Chris by Aunty Carol.
Gorcott Hall is a gem of a local venue to me and being literally 5 minutes drive away from where I live is the icing on the cake. As I provide all day cover, usually around 10 hours, this is always a bonus after a hard day of Wedding photography. Adrian and the team there always look after me and provide the couple with seamless professional service from start to finish with all the personal touches you’d expect from a top drawer Worcestershire Wedding venue. Top that off with a beautiful house, gardens and grounds and you can’t go wrong.
I always think that couples would rather be having a few beverages than running about with me on their Wedding day. As we’re in early Spring you’re pretty much losing the natural light by the time the meal finishes. This means the time between the ceremony and the meal can get pretty busy with family group shots, photos in the grounds of the newlyweds and the all-important documentary style stuff. Ellen and Chris were legends in that regard. They worked hard to get the images they wanted to remember their big day and this always makes a difference. The guys even commented on how ten minutes here and there gave them a little time with each other. We threw up some lights and had a go with some creative portraiture on the evening and finished with a perfect sparkler send off for the happy couple. I must admit organising a rowdy, slightly intoxicated set of Wedding guests for an evening shot can be like herding cats but Ellen and Chris’ guests performed admirably!
Special thanks need to go out to the helpers for the final shot of the day the sparkler trail shot. I think the couple and I had more fun laughing at them than doing the shot. Big thanks also to Ellen’s Maid of Honour who came in at the last minute and showed the lads how it’s done. Some excellent outtakes will be making its way into the full set.
A lovely couple and a brilliant day!
