Owen and Chloe’s Party Time Spring Wedding.
Bridal prep is one thing I do enjoy photographing, sometimes it’s quiet and peaceful, sometimes rowdy and the Prosecco is flowing! With the nerves of the ceremony, the rush of leaving as husband and wife and all the other parts of the Wedding it’s kind of the forgotten end of the day. Some brides-to-be think they may be a little nervous or don’t want to be photographed without makeup but it’s so much more than that. It’s a good chance to capture some of the details of your day and the little shows of affection between family and friends. If you’re thinking about not capturing that part of the day I always recommend you do and is one of the reasons I provide day cover rather than starting at the ceremony.
Arriving at Owen and Chole’s house the morning of the Wedding and the ladies were decked out in gowns bearing the titles of the day. Chloe had bought her ladies some lovely gifts which she handed out when I arrived so we could get some nice photos for the girl’s memories. Sometimes people handout gifts or have little plans on the day to surprise friends and family, make sure you tell your photographer about these or do them when they’re there. These are the bits and bobs that are your day, not the group shots or the epic couple shots at an awesome venue, these little intimate moments that tell your story. Zara - Beautiful Hair and Makeup and Beauty By Chic were working their magic and the girls looked amazing.
The happy couple had chosen to get married at the stunning St Mary’s church of Selly Oak, in the heart of Birmingham. They certainly made the right choice, the setting was beautiful! Sometimes the Clergy and photographers have a bit of a difficult relationship. As a Wedding photographer, I’m there to try and get the best images I can for my couple but the Vicars and Priests have probably the most important job on the day. For me, it’s always best to start from a point of respect when dealing with anyone on a Wedding day. An introduction, keeping people informed about what you have planned and a laugh and joke go a long way. Even for people who are used to speaking publically, having a camera clicking away while you’re trying to do your job can be distracting. David and his team were awesome in this regard! They went out of their way to accommodate me in making sure Owen and Chloe got some great pictures. One of the Vergers even waited around for us so we could get a cracking shot for the couple at the front of the Church, thanks Keith! On a quick note when saying their vows I have never heard a Groom say “I Do” with such conviction as Owen did when being asked if he would take Chloe as his wife, I think he meant it, haha.
The Abbey Hotel was dressed to the nines by Sarah from VIP Functions and Flowers along with the amazing floral bouquets for the day. If you’re looking for someone to dress your room, flowers or just about anything check VIP out, highly recommended. Adita, Stacey, Nicole and team Abbey pulled all the stops to make sure the day flowed without a hitch. Nearly gave me a heart attack by calling the first dance early while I was grabbing a quick five minutes but I’m never far away on the day and got some lovely shots of the two newlyweds. Owen and Chloe’s family were awesome fun and kept the banter going all day, family’s like this make me love my job! Laurence from TLC Entertainment smashed the evening entertainment getting the crowd up and dancing, especially Nan who was living her best life dancing with two of Owens suited and booted mates.
Awesome day, awesome couple!
