Sarah and Dan’s Stunning Pendrell Hall Wedding, Codsall Wood.

This Sunday in May was a massive weekend, the Game of Thrones and Line of Duty season end episodes, ermm I mean Sarah and Dan’s awesome wedding! Unlike both of the season finales, Sarah and Dan’s day was not a massive anticlimax but an awesome celebration of the coming together of two people. I first met the couple when Dan was best man at a previous wedding I photographed, Mike and Vicky’s. This time it was roles reversed for the two old friends with Mike on best man duties along with another of Dan’s old friends Martin. Most of my Wedding photography work comes through recommendation. Couples have either been at a Wedding I photographed or heard about me through a friend. It’s always a testament to the fact you’ve done a good job that friends and family come back and I love getting work this way.

The venue of choice for the happy couple was Pendrell Hall set in the beautiful countryside of Codsall Wood. I’ve shot at the Hall before and it’s a great venue inside and out. Don’t underestimate the bonus of having a stunning venue inside, if the weather is bad that’s where the bulk of the photographs will be! Unlike the last time I was at the venue though, the weather was no issue and guests got to enjoy the well-manicured grounds. As with any excellent venue, the staff were great and with Jayne in charge, the day went smoothly. I was well looked after all day and it makes a massive difference when a venue like Pendrell Hall goes out of its way to accommodate the photography, thanks Jayne you were a legend!

Sarah’s bridesmaids also deserve an honorary mention as a great set of ladies. I pulled up in the drive first thing to find them, fizz in hand, walking up to the main house laughing and joking. During the bridal prep, hair by Sarah’s close family friend Beverley Perrott and makeup by Diana Morton, the room was full of fun and laughter. Heidi, Pooja, Sarah’s sister Alison and Mom Carol laughing and joking away easing Sarah’s nerves right up until she got into her dress.

The speeches at this wedding were a thing of beauty. The father of the bride, Derek, knocked it out of the park with an emotional tribute to the newlyweds. Heidi also took the time to stand up as one of Sarah’s closest friends and deliver a cracking speech, funny, intimate and caring, all the things an awesome speech needs. Sliding in the fact that she had stalked, across all social media platforms, Sarah’s old crush, Hugh Jackman, who was just too heartbroken to respond with some kind words for the happy couple, haha. Dan’s speech was full of crackers, the guy certainly knows how to write a speech.

Lines like;

“Using Sarah’s own words, she described me when we first met as “a bit of a t@*t” but I overcame that first setback and look at us now”

“Hugh Jackman wasn’t available so she settled for a Griff Rhys Jones look-a-like” had the crowd of family and friends howling. Mike and Martin tag teamed the best man speeches finishing off with a moustachioed rendition of Freddie Mercury with the groom.

The people, venue and couple made this day one to remember and I wish you guys all the best for the future.

Here’s a sneak of the wedding photography ….
